Thomas Hanman of Gloucester is listed by Loomes as working from 1863 – 79, and this c. 1870 wall clock
has a two train fusee movement with shaped shouldered plates, in a mahogany drop-dial style case.
The 12” flat painted dial with Roman numerals and blued steel spade hands, sits behind a flat glass, plastered into a spun brass bezel, and set within a carved mahogany surround. The case, which has “scroll and foliate” carved ears, and an applied scroll moulding around the glazed pendulum aperture, measures 27½” (700mm) overall height, and is 16½” (420mm) across its widest point.
