In “Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World (vol. 2)”, Loomes gives 1830 – 71 as the working dates of this fine maker.
This elegant timepiece with its convex 10” diameter painted dial with roman numerals and fine blued steel spade hands, set under a convex glass with cast brass bezel, is mounted in a mahogany drop-dial style case with well-figured flame mahogany veneer, and has applied carved decorative ears. The case measures 18½” tall overall, and is 12” at its widest.
The well finished 8-day fuseé movement has substantial plates with shaped shoulders and bottoms.
